Our Process

PROJECT INITIATION
This step is all about getting to know you and your space. Everything we learn in this phase will drive the design process. Our kick-off meeting consists of two parts: (i) Design Inspiration to understand client needs and wants, and (ii) Site photos and measurements.

DESIGN CONCEPT
In the Design Concept phase, we are determining the overall look and feel of the space (the "vibe" or "mood") as well as the best overall layout for fixtures and furnishings.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
This is where the design magic happens. Most of our work will be done behind the scenes until we present a complete design package, including floor plans, elevations, 3D renderings, design boards, as well as samples of finishes and fabrics, and a detailed budget. We design everything up front so that all key decisions are made together to ensure a smooth implementation phase. After the design presentation, clients provide consolidated feedback where we will make necessary revisions (if any) to the selections and design.

FINAL DESIGN DOCUMENTATION
Once the design is finalized, we will delivery the final design package along with the Implementation Guide for clients to then proceed with purchasing everything and working with trades to complete the space.

Clients will oversee any construction, trades and procurement of materials and furnishings. But rest assured, if you need more assistance with your project, we are here to help with Optional Add-On Services available.

1 / How long does the design process take?
The design timeline varies based on the scope of the project. Generally, the full process could take approximately 6 to 8 weeks from our first meeting to the delivery of the finalized The Polished Design Plan.
2 / How much does The Polished Design Plan cost?
The Polished Design Plan cost starts at $2500 plus HST, and increases based on the scope of the project. A quote will be provided at the start of the project and payment is due 100% up front.
3 / Can we incorporate existing furniture items into the design plan?
Yes, we work with existing furniture or other items that are meaningful to you or work for the space. We will be honest with you if something isn't right.
4 / What if we only want to make a few changes to our space?
The Polished Design Plan is a comprehensive design plan to refresh an entire room or space. If you just need to make a few changes to your home, Designer By Your Side or a Design Consultation may be a better option.
5 / Who purchases the furniture, accessories, materials or finishes?
The homeowners and/or contractor will be responsible for purchasing the materials. The Polished Design Plan includes a detailed Shopping List with accessible links for you to access the products specified in the plan and make your own purchases. For renovations, you should discuss purchasing and order quantities (including extra for cuts) with your contractor or other professional trades.
6 / Do you provide construction permit drawings?
No, the renderings and drawings included in The Polished Design Plan are to communicate design intent only. They are not permit-ready construction drawings. Those would need to be provided by an Architect or Architectural Technologist, and most likely your contractor would have a process for that should a permit be required.
