Catherine McAllister
Interior Decorator, Polished Interiors

Catherine McAllister prides herself on creating beautiful homes for her clients that also function well for today's busy families.  Her clients appreciate her collaborative and friendly approach, combined with her genuine love for her job and respect of their homes, their budget and their needs.

Catherine has had a love for interior design since she was a young girl, often rearranging her family's living room furniture and even selecting paint colours at a young age. But in addition to her creative mind, she is also highly skilled at numbers and mathematics. So instead of pursuing her first love of interior design, she pursued a business degree at Queen's University. Following a successful career in advertising, managing multi-million dollar ad campaigns for some of Canada's biggest brands, she decided to follow her original passion for beautiful interiors and changed careers. Her background in business and advertising gave her time to hone her skills in project management, client service, budget management, and in managing the creative process from ideation to execution - all of which she applies with the same vigour to her interior design clients.

Design Style

Catherine's design style sweet-spot falls between traditional and modern design. She loves traditional details like mouldings, millwork and beautiful wallpaper, but also loves the clean lines of more modern spaces, mixing metal finishes and abstract artwork. Catherine feels strongly about creating designs that reflect her client's tastes and flow with the rest of their home. She does not take a cookie-cutter approach to her designs, so each space is unique to her clients and their home.

Favourite design elements: brass lighting, wainscotting, and colourful wallpaper.
